Android Developer Meetup and Jimu Mirror

On Wednesday, February 25, Echo hosted the Android Developers Meetup at Canvs. Developers were treated to a great talk and demonstration by Ian Thomas–a full time Android developer for a digital forensics company. He focuses his efforts on front end design and application architecture–and strives to help others excel at both as well.

During the Meetup, Ian walked us through using Jimu Mirror, which provides an almost real time process for implementing and testing layouts and custom views. This allows us to accelerate development and prototyping when creating a layout from scratch, without ever needing to deploy to a device. Or as their website so aptly puts it: “no More compile-Install-Run to see your UI changes On Real devices.”

Small UI changes can easily take more than 20 seconds to recompile, reinstall and then check out on a device. As we learned, using Jimu Mirror helps in shaving off those seconds which can ultimately shave hours, allowing developers to more quickly test and implement changes. This helps keep developers in the flow of creation and can assist in producing a better app.

If you missed this one, be sure to join us for the next Android Developers Meetup coming up on March 18, at 6:30 PM at Canvs.
